There’s nothing more frustrating, messy, time consuming, and costly than training your dog. However, it’s the most loving and rewarding thing you can do for your pet. This is something I found to be too close to home when I started training my own dog a few months ago. When he came home, I was a bit lost. This was my first dog I’ve owned on my own, and being that he was only 4 months old, I knew I had a long grueling path ahead of me.
When I learned about these two products, I realized I could not be more wrong. The first product is called Gotta Potty. With Gotta Potty, you simply put the sensor underneath the front mat. When your dog steps on it to motion to go outside, a recording OF MY OWN VOICE is played for him. Then, across the apartment I get an alert that he’s ready to go outside. Although it didn’t work immediately, consistency was the key to getting this to work. After about 2 weeks of persistence, my dog was using it like a pro! I haven’t seen any accidents in days and the ability to learn through repetition was intuitive and rewarding.
The second product I got was called DogKeeper. Having an overly hyper puppy can be exhausting! Since I rent an apartment, I don’t have a fenced in yard or even a dog park within walking distance from where I live. To combat this, I used the DogKeeper to plant the metal pole into the grass in my front area where it would secure his leash. The 360 degrees of swivel and being able to set the distance with the leash was ideal! I could sit outside and give him his space to roam, go potty, and play while I kept an eye on him. Finally I could relax knowing he wouldn’t run off or get lost. A real life saver!
Since getting these two products, it has really put the difficulties of raising a young pup at bay. I now enjoy quality time with my puppy without the added stress of having to train him and discipline. Who wants to be stern when you can be the “fun parent”?
