Every so often, a safety products come along that peak my interest. Safety products are difficult to sell because of the potential backlash from customers. Safety is such a sensitive and highly debated subject that when it comes to products on the market, they are usually bashed into submission. Their inherent concern is not surprising – lives could potentially be at stake! The Tough subject to breach here is that it is impossible to promise 100% safety in any situation.

While these 2 products I came across aren’t life affirming – they are definitely a step in the right direction. I would much rather dramatically lower the chances or harm to my family, friends, and myself through these clever devices.

Grandma’s Child Saver

Grandma’s Child Saver is a long, thin and sturdy board that is placed over an above-ground pool ladder. Complete with a lock, and able to place over any size ladder, this product stood out to me because of the ingenious idea to keep young children from climbing into the pool. This can potentially prevent them from an accidental drowning.

Although it’s ideal that a child would receive swim lessons at an early age, why take the risk? Not all families can afford the price or time for lessons and even the best of swimmers still have the potential of drowning. Parents are busy, and you may not always remember to take down the ladder or may simply be distracted when your little one goes out to play.

I think this product is great for busy families who want to take that extra step to ensure their child’s safety. With the device under lock and key, you have a better chance of outsmarting the young ones. You can leave Grandma’s Child Saver out in the sun and moisture as well without worrying about it falling apart or bleaching – it’s 100% UV protected and made from sturdy materials. Definitely worth it in my opinion!

EarlyWarning

This particular product intrigued me because it was familiar. Traffic triangles have been out on the roads for decades in the US. They are standard for commercial truck drivers, but not for individuals. When the inventor took his invention from the UK to the US he saw a big need for individual usage. America has about 20 people a week who are killed or seriously injured in roadside accidents!

When bad luck strikes and you find yourself abandoned on the side of the road, knowing you have an EarlyWarning could save your day…and maybe even your life. EarlyWarning easily stores into your car and takes under a minute to put together. In the packaging, there are 4 custom foamex signs that read “No Gas”, “Help”, “Flat Tire”, and “Slow.” Set your EarlyWarning a safe visual distance from your vehicle and wait for assistance!

What really struck me as about this product, besides the custom signs, was the ability to see it at night. Since nighttime car troubles create low visibility and increased potential danger, I thought this addition was brilliant. The reflective signs are police-grade which means they can be seen up to 1,600ft! That’s 3x the distance that a standard stop sign emits!
