You’re sitting in your room when your phone pings invitingly, alerting you of your delivered package. Only, you’ve completely forgotten about this impulse buy. You stumble downstairs ready to delight yourself with the sight and scent of a new Amazon purchase. It’s like Christmas morning as you stumble into the sunlight briefly to grab your prize. You tear through the packaging only to discover that the item that looked all shiny and promising online, looks a bit like a dud irl.
Getting a bad purchase is frustrating. We’ve all been there in one way or another, cursing yourself for your stupidity and lack of foresight. Yet every so often, there’s a purchase you make online or in a store that you are completely in love with, reigniting your confidence as the smartest spender who’s ever lived. Here are a few items that I’ve purchased, and lived to NOT regret it.
Moleskine Notebooks
Moleskine Notebooks are really pricey. For a simple notebook, most would look at me like I was insane to spend upwards of $50 on paper bound together. What people don’t realize though is that a lot of what drew (pun intended) me to it was the rich history surrounding Moleskin, and the quality of the product.
To an artist, paper isn’t JUST paper. Moleskin notebook paper is sturdy and has enough tooth to support anything from pencil sketches, to ink, watercolor, and even acrylic paints. Everyone at art school used them, and not because starving artists just love spending more of their ramen money. Moleskin has been around since Hemmingway and has been used by inspiring people in art, music, and writing for generations.
Chromecast
Where do I even begin on my love affair with my Chromecast? Developed by Google, this device plugs into your HDMI port on your television for optimum viewing experiences. For only $35 you can have the entire world on your phone or computer cast to your TV. Although the subscriptions are separate, you’re free to cast your favorite series from streaming services such as Hulu, Amazon Prime Video, Netflix, HBO, YouTube and more!
Converse Shoes
I bought my white high-top converse for an L Stranger Things costume a few years back and I’m still using them on an almost daily basis. Converse have been around since 1908 where It was founded in Boston. Since then, millions upon millions of pairs have been sold, and has become a staple in American fashion for decades. They are high quality and come in any color or style that you can think of. I once heard that you should never cheap out on things that separate you from the ground and shoes are no exception. I love mine and will definitely get a replacement pair when the time comes.
Magic Eraser
I wanted to showcase a product that wasn’t necessarily long-lasting or expensive. The Magic Eraser from Mr. Clean is the best cleaning product on the market, in my humble opinion. Cleaning my Converse? Magic Eraser. Smudges on door frames? Magic Eraser. Oven needs a scrub? Magic Eraser. Sticker won’t come off? Magic Eraser. I swear, it REALLY is like magic! The secret in this product is that there’s actually tiny tiny pieces of fiberglass in the sponges that scrape away dirt so affectively. It’s amazing, and can be yours to try for only $3 at Walmart (4).
I have much more things that I’ve purchased that I would recommend to anyone, but I’ll leave that for another day. Until then, what’s one product that you cannot live without? Leave a comment below and tell us about it! Don’t be selfish!
