We’ve all been there at 3AM staring blankly at the screen, wondering why you’re still putting off sleep, when a lengthy, ridiculous infomercial comes on. Who directed these? Who came up with these ideas for products? I have so many questions. I took a deep dive down memory lane and did a little research to find the best of the worst infomercials to present them here for your entertainment.

Hula Chair

I came across this infomercial years ago in the wild. It was in the early 2000’s when the Hula Chair blessed me with the best laughter content at that time. I was in awe that it was actually a REAL product. The action of the hula with the chair as a “sitting work out” is a ridiculous idea. Can you imagine entering a place of business just to see someone sitting in one of these? You wouldn’t be able to take the person seriously! Not to mention, it’s odd to have fitness equipment in a work environment. It’s silly, looks painful on the back, and is entirely too much money to spend to look like an idiot. 10/10. Next!

EZ Butter

I’m going to be honest here when I say that I would genuinely buy this product. The video, however, has all the staples of a bad infomercial rolled into one. The dramatic butter cutting in black and white footage, the child being coerced into saying how much they LOVE BUTTER, and the “buy now get one free” shtick. I love how the entire infomercial is about butter, and then at the end they go into how you can use it for cheese, hotdogs, bananas, and cucumbers. It’s a bulky and awkward product, sure, but actually seems pretty functional. I give this video a 6/10.

Rejuvenique Electric Facial Mask

Calling all serial killers! This video takes the cake in creepiness. Not only does it seem like this product does NOT work AT ALL, but it looks incredibly creepy. The best laugh out loud moment is the slow pan of the lady wearing the mask where it zooms in on her eye. If you want to summon your inner Jason, this is the product for you! Also, how are electric currents like situps for your face? I have suspisions this snake oil salesman isn’t a scientist…7/10.

Aspray All Over Body Deodorant

Obnoxious over the top actors? Check. Cheesy green effects to show smells? Check. Man screaming questions at you? Check. Horrifying product name? CHECK! Aspray sounds like A**spray first of all….that’s low hanging comedy fruit. I simply love the shot where he’s talking to a “contractor” and they actually attempt to be funny by fitting in “my butt” at the end of the interview. It’s cringey to say the least 5/10.
