Horrendous Halloween Costumes to Avoid This Season

Halloween is a time for tricks, treats, pumpkin patches, hay rides, scary movies, chilly weather and of course….costumes! Getting dressed up is one of the perks of the spooky season, and finding a good one is hard to do. Everything is either not very original, or takes a lot of money and effort. What is incredibly easy though, it seems, is to find a costume that you definitely DON’T WANT. Here is my cohesive list of terrible costumes to try this season (if you dare! MWAHAHA)!

Sexy Mr. Rogers & Sexy Bob Ross

I decided to lump these two together since they spectacularly ruin my childhood in the exact same way. Taking dear old friends and turning them into sexy female costume ideas not only looks bad, but it just feels wrong.

Sexy Rogers just looks like a really cold schoolgirl and the Bob Ross looks like a bond villain from the 60s. In all honesty, this just should have never existed, but with the gigantic market of costumes available online, you never know what you’re going to get.

Taking not only one but TWO of my childhood role models and tarnishing their good name makes me feel less than progressive, but I feel like this may have gone a little off the rails when sexuality is introduced into something that is supposed to be pure and educational. *vomit emoji*

“Funny” Offensive Costumes

Every year there are a magnitude of offensive costumes for sale that are labelled to be funny. There are some cases where this can be pretty humerous and bring a controversal “oh no he/she didn’t!” to the party you attend. However, there are a time and place for such costumes. The image depicted above is of a “Holocaust Survivor” for small children. Even though the Holocaust happened over 80 years ago, it’s still a really touchy subject for a lot of people, ESPECIALLY on a child. How tasteless!

And then there’s the “Lion Killer Dentist” costume that pokes fun at the fact that rich doctors from Canada go on African Safaris to kill endangerd animals. Seriously, do people actually have the cajones no wear these in public?!

The Political Costume

My parents always taught me it’s rude to talk about sex, drugs, politics, or religion in public. This costume “Meghan Kelly’s Tampon”, is another one of those eye-roller costumes where you can’t help but blurt out….”WHY?!”

The political climate is already tense as it is, and having drunk femenists & Trumpers in the same room during a Halloween Party doesn’t seem like the smartest Idea.

My advice, stick with the classics! A good rule of thumb would be if you would feel comfortable wearing it in front of your Grandma or kids. Again, maybe I’m the one being the uptight one, or the fact that I’m getting older. What is your opinion?
